WHAT WE DO
The Event Cinema Association (ECA) is a non-profit organisation, which is funded by subscription from its members. The work of the ECA is to support and promote Event Cinema on behalf of exhibitors and distributors and raise awareness with the general public.
We have 2 objectives:
1. To promote Event Cinema to audiences
2. To support the industry
For an annual subscription, members receive a number of key benefits designed to grow their business. Please see Why join for full details on the benefits of becoming a member or read more about the role of the ECA below.
What is the role of the ECA?
Since first appearing in 2006, the Event Cinema market is predicted to be worth an estimated $1.13bn by 2019 (Rentrak, 2014). Indeed, some exhibitors are already claiming that event cinema occupies as much as 18% of their box office revenue.
The ECA works on behalf of UK and European Event Cinema (also known as Alternative Content) providers, distributors and cinema exhibitors to promote this niche market and make it more accessible to the general public through a variety of marketing initiatives.
The single biggest obstacle to serious growth in this market is public awareness, so the ECA is dedicated to promoting the sector as a whole, via online and in-cinema promotions. The ECA will give the industry a voice, an identity, direction and support as it flourishes in cinemas, complementing mainstream cinema content. In a fast-changing industry, ideas and best practices can be exchanged between members, and the best this industry can offer is shared among a close-knit community for everyone's benefit.
