Thomas has more than 22 years of experience in the cinema exhibition industry. With his strategic forward thinking mentality he is constantly interested in new business development and in questioning and improving existing processes. He is convinced that Event Cinema content will play a very important role in the cinema offer of the future.
For more than 19 years Thomas was Marketing Director for Germany and Austria of UCI Cinemas (today part of Europe´s largest exhibitor group Odeon & UCI Cinemas according to the number of screens). He was also the head of film-buying there for more than 15 years and acted as the company spokesman.
He was responsible for the marketing campaigns of 24 multiplex cinema openings and takeovers. As a pioneer of Event Cinema in Germany he created the first cinema screenings of the FIFA world cup back in 1994. First screenings of pop and rock concerts followed since 1997. On the first digital projector ever installed in Germany he showed a live concert of Bon Jovi in 2002. When 3D live content was available in 2010 he experimented again with FIFA world cup screenings and local pop band Die Fantastischen Vier. Carmen was shown as first opera in 3D in UCI cinemas in 2011. The canonization of two popes live from Rome in 2014 and the first ever screening of online game League of Legends in 2015 showed the full diversity of Event Cinema business.
Thomas is a graduate economist of the university in Bremen and an enthusiastic cinema fan.
