Event Cinema Association
LONDON - The Event Cinema Association (ECA) is proud to be at CineEurope 2014 and will be taking over a large area on Level 1 of the Convention Centre directly off of the foyer and creating an ECA Lounge for its members. The 18-month-old trade association will be hosting a number of events over the course of the week designed to give value back to its members and continue its commitment to promote and support the Event Cinema industry.
The area will be transformed into a fantastic cinema space and networking space where the ECA members and guests can use the space for meetings, launches, drinks etc. This will provide the ECA sponsors the opportunity to speak directly to delegates who are actively involved in this emerging and fast growing sector.
Phillips, in association with the ECA, are providing a LightVibes™ mini theatre installation complete with digital cinema projector and 5.1 surround sound, and will be demonstrating this immersive cinema entertainment lighting solution throughout the event. The ECA will also be showcasing its annual showreel, featuring upcoming content from its members at regular intervals throughout each day.
Audience Entertainment will be showcasing their Interactive Dimension technology during the week. There will be several presentations from sponsors DSAT Cinema, Akuentic/Euromedia, SmartJog Ymagis Logistics and Motion Pictures Solutions who will also be hosting a drinks reception on the Wednesday evening.
Founder and Chair of the ECA Melissa Keeping said, 'CineEurope is one of the biggest events on the calendar for the ECA; it’s a way to reach and support our members in as direct a way as possible. We are delighted to be providing an immersive cinema experience in partnership with our sponsor Philips in the ECA Lounge for members and partners alike to enjoy'
Sue Meara, Events Manager, added, 'We’ve been swamped with interest in the ECA Lounge and have some fantastic events taking place in Barcelona offering the event cinema industry a bespoke place to gather, network, inform and be informed. Thanks to all our sponsors for their support and we look forward to a very productive and enjoyable week.’
Ronald Maandonks, Venture Manager for Cinelight at Philips, said ‘We are very excited by the potential of LightVibes and feel that our collaboration with the Event Cinema Association in reaching this new audience could be very beneficial all round, and we are very much looking forward to showcasing our product at CineEurope.’
The Event Cinema Association launched in September 2012. The non-profit organisation was set up to support and promote the market for cinemas looking to offer different types of filmed live events to audiences such as operas, ballets, theatre, concerts, sport and audience question and answer debates. As a trade association, the ECA provides a united voice for the alternative content industry and works to rebrand live cinema screenings of different kinds of programming as ‘event cinema’ in order to engage other audiences. The ECA also distributes a quarterly trailer reel in European cinemas to promote forthcoming programming, provide a website with useful information for cinemas and alternative content providers, as well as holding regular events and conferences throughout the year.
